Wood Chipping Service

A free wood chipping service thru the Arizona Wildfire Initiative has become available at no cost to us to help reduce the fire risk in our area. This is a last-minute thing that was secured or this would have been announced sooner.

As you know with all the recent fires in California this takes on more urgency for our community. This service was the last remaining part of grant dollars made available to these kinds of events with more to come in the future for our community.

The end goal is to become a fire wise community here at Lake Patagonia Ranch Estates POA which would open up even more grand dollars in the future for other improvements/services that would help reduce the fire risk considerably.

Also be aware that fire wise communities may be eligible for insurance discounts. This could also help increase or property values.

Two dates to remember;

1) January 16, 2025, a webinar will be available at 3 p.m. with more information on the service that will be offered to reduce your branches to mulch. Those homeowners who are interested would have to make every effort to attend the webinar for more information.

2) January 31, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m. The woodchipper will arrive to our community to begin chipping the branches and removing the mulch.

The initial service will have a limited capacity for how many homes it can service based on the number of branches to be mulched. Anywhere from 8-14 homes.

If you are interested in this service, please reach out to us at lprhoa@gmail.com. We need a list of residents that are interested.

A link below will direct you to the webinar that will be available on the 16th of this month. Again, those interested are highly encouraged to attend the webinar!

PARA Presentation

On Thursday, Nov 9th, Carolyn Shafer from PARA (Patagonia Area Resource Alliance) presented a very informative presentation hosted by our POA-A president. PARA is working hard along with other organizations to protect our area from the effects of the rather large scale mining being undertaken in the Patagonia mountains. Below are two links that show the difference in the presentation on the effect of the water pumping planned for the South 32 project.

The first is the presentation prepared by South 32:

The second is the presentation prepared by PARA's experts:
